Codec bitrate follows the connection second by second. On a bad 3G day you get a slightly thinner voice, not a dead line.
Low-data mode
Caps voice at about 0.5 MB per minute and video at 3 MB per minute. Turn it on once and forget about it.
Encrypted end-to-end
Audio and video are encrypted between the two phones. Relay servers, when needed, forward packets they cannot decode.
Falls back to voice notes
If the call cannot connect, Ashlonk offers to record a voice note instead — so the message still gets through.
Call from the group
Start a call from any group chat; members join as they see it, and latecomers see who is already on.
Questions people ask
Why does the other person sound robotic sometimes?
That is the codec working hard on a weak connection. It is choosing a thinner voice over a dropped call. Move toward a window or Wi-Fi and it recovers within seconds.
Do calls work over Wi-Fi only?
They work over anything — Wi-Fi, 4G, 3G and, for voice, even a stable 2G connection.
Are calls recorded?
Never by us — we cannot. Whether the other person records on their device is up to them; choose whom you trust.
Can I call someone who does not have Ashlonk?
Not yet. Ashlonk calls go over the internet between two Ashlonk apps. Invite them — it is free.
